Hey Fellow Planners!  I'm SO excited bout the new Simply Planned product set for making custom planners, and I hope you are too. For those of you who have purchased the new Simply Planned grid packs to start building your own custom planner pages, I wanted to provide a quick tutorial on how to use the script that comes with the grid pack download.

The script provided is meant to allow you to quickly "drag" your completed cards into the grid page and have them resized and aligned to "fit" into the grid spots with a quick running of the script.

Here's how to make it work for you:
  1.  Open the grid page you want to use and look in the layers panel to determine which card sizes will "fit" into this particular grid.
    1. In the example below, this page needs one 2x8 list card and eight 4x1 cards
  2. Open your selected cards from the card template packs, recolor them and/or clip papers to them until you are satisfied with the results. Save them as flattened jpgs.
  3. Insert your jpg cards into the grid page file with your flattened jpg card directly above the "CARD" grid spot you would like it to go in to.
    1. CAUTION: Due to the way this script runs, please ensure that the layer names of the flattened jpg cards that you are inserting DO NOT contain the word "CARD" (ex: below, the flattened jpg colored cards are just called "layer 9", "layer 8" etc.).
  4. For Photoshop Users: run the script "shrink_cards_to_fit_in_GRID_spots_PS_w_Groups".
    1. For PSE Users: run the script "shrink_cards_to_fit_in_GRID_spots_PSE_no_Groups"
  5. The script will resize and align the cards automatically to fit into the grid spots and will merge down the card layers so that the layers are renamed to the original names of the grid card layers (ex: renames "layer 9" above to "card 1 - 2 x 8" and eliminates the grid spot that showed what size the card should be).
    1. Here's a view of what the final file looks like after running the script
So that's all I have for today! If you have questions about this script or wish it worked differently, let me know what would work better for you (for example, I also wrote a script that would allow you to pull in the card templates as groups and the groups are resized to fit into the grid spots so that you can continue to edit the card layers in your larger grid file. I can make this available in the store if you would prefer this type of script).

BTW - scripts are odd sometimes, so DON'T hesitate to ask me questions! I'd LOVE to help get things streamlined for you :)
